The Academy Award Best Picture Challenge

I can’t believe it has been almost three years since I began my 365 Day Movie Challenge.

I can’t believe it has been almost three years since 2020.

I can’t believe I survived 2020.

If you are reading this that means you survived the last few years as well. And that was no easy feat considering what we all went through together on this globe. So, hats off to us all.

Now in those three years I most certainly watched movies, I just didn’t necessarily write about them. I mean, if you know me at all or have read this blog, you know that I am a HUGE movie fan.

You can read a little about my love for movies as well as the 365 Day Movie Challenge here.

But I thought it was the right time to bring back one more love of mine, writing. And what better way to do that with yet another movie challenge.

This time I am incorporating my adoration for the Academy Awards in the challenge. You can read a little bit about my love for the Oscars here.

My vast movie collection includes every single Best Picture winner either on DVD or Blu-Ray. Oddly enough, I have not seen everyone of the 94 winners even though I do own them. So I thought it was time to address that blemish on my cinephile reputation.

Starting on December first of this year (in just a few days) I am going to watch all of the Best Picture Winners (whether I have already seen them or not) starting with 1927 and ending with 2021. After doing so, I am going to write a little something about each one and then of course, drumroll please, rank them. If you don’t know by now, I love lists. (That list will be updated on this very post below.)

My goal is to have all 94 movies watched and written about by Sunday, March 12, when we will learn the 95th Best Picture Oscar winner. Oscar Day, or as I like to call it, “My Super Bowl.”

So join me over the next few months, won’t you, as I fall back into the land of “blogging” once again this time with all things Academy Award winning movies.

Get that popcorn ready.
